A History of Connecting Individuals to Hope, Care and Addiction Recovery in Pittsburgh
In 2020, Renewal Inc., in collaboration with Allegheny County, opened a new state-of-the-art facility in downtown Pittsburgh to address the pressing challenges of the opioid epidemic. This facility is home to Renewal’s Pathway to Care and Recovery and Safe Place to Stay Program.
Pathway to Care and Recovery is a certified, 24/7/365 assessment center designed to support individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Whether walking in or calling at any time, individuals will connect with a team of dedicated professionals, including staff with lived experience, who provide compassionate support and guidance. The program offers a comprehensive biopsychosocial intake assessment, utilizing the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria to determine the appropriate level of care. Once assessed, staff work diligently to connect individuals with suitable treatment providers.
In situations where immediate placement into a treatment facility is unavailable, individuals are offered a safe and supportive environment in our Safe Place to Stay.
Opened in May, 2021, the Safe Place to Stay provides temporary accommodations, including private rooms, access to essential amenities such as bathrooms, showers, hot meals, laundry services, medical care, and educational group sessions. This program ensures individuals have a safe and dignified place to wait until a treatment bed becomes available. When the time comes, staff facilitate a warm handoff to the identified treatment program, ensuring a seamless transition.
Together, these programs embody Renewal Inc.’s commitment to providing hope, care, and recovery to those in need.
